Economic Development Meeting Agenda

For meeting on September 1
A coordinated approach to addressing each topic area will be useful in facilitating the Council’s outcomes.  We suggest that the working groups meet 2-3 times before the September 17, 2009 Council meeting to begin to address these common agenda items as well as the items specific to each working group.  This work is unlikely to be finished by September, but we will ask each working group to give a verbal report on progress at the Council meeting.

1.    Call to Order by Co-chairs
2.    Articulate a vision related to your group’s functional area
(We are part way there)
3.    Set goals and actions to achieve the vision in the relevant area.
a.    Short Term (2020)
b.    Long Term (2050)
c.    Immediate Actions
(We made some progress in this area at meeting #1)
4.    Suggest indicators (no more than 5-6) to measure progress towards achieving those goals*
5.    Identify barriers to reaching goals (legal, behavioral, institutional, educational) with specific examples where possible
6.    Identify who is responsible for achieving goals and actions (from #5 above)
7.    Identify overlap with other working groups/functional areas
8.    Suggest need for future research

The Futures Task Force report may be a good starting point for its Vision for 2060 and the Choices for the Future.  It can be found at: http://www.srpedd.org/Futures%20Task%20Force/futures%20report/futurespolicyreport.pdf
